বছর খানেক পরে,
আবার যেদিন দেখা হলো।
না বলা কথা যত,
ভালোলাগা আর যত অভিমান,
বলতে চেয়েছিলাম।
মনে হলো আরও একবার
হাত দুটো ধরে, ভেঙে পড়ি।
আরও একবার প্রতিশ্রুতি দিই।
কিন্তু কথা যে এলোনা,
হাত পা থেমে গেলো,
আর কিছু না বলাই থাক।
তোর পথ আর আমার,
দুটোই একদিকে নয়।
ভাবলাম, রাস্তার বাঁক গুলোর মতন
কোনো এক বাকে দেখা হয়েছিল।
জীবনের জনস্রোতে সে বাক পেরিয়ে এসেছি কবে,
তা আর মনে রাখি নি।
রাখার যে প্রয়োজন ও নেই।
"যা যায় তা ফিরে যে আসেনা"
কে যেন বলেছিল।
মনে নেই।
আমি বলি, আমি ভাবি অন্য এক কথা
"জীবনের পথে যেটুকু না পাওয়া
সেটুকুই প্রেম"।

English Translation

A Year Hence

A year hence,
when our paths crossed once more.

All the words left unsaid,
all the quiet joys and hushed sorrows—
I longed to weave them into speech.

I wished to hold your hands once more,
to crumble in their warmth,
to make promises unbroken by time.

But the words—
they never came.
My hands trembled,
my feet stood still.
And perhaps, silence was the only truth left to tell.

Your road and mine—
they no longer journeyed as one.

I thought, like the winding curves of a forgotten street,
we had met at some nameless turn.
And in the great, rushing tide of life,
I had long since drifted past that bend,
never pausing to remember.

And perhaps, remembering was never needed.

“They who leave never return,”
someone once murmured.
I do not recall who.

But I whisper another truth—
“What is lost in the passing of life,
that alone is love.”
