I am filled with immense gratitude as I reflect on the beautiful and intimate house concert that took place recently, thanks to the incredible generosity and warmth of Malathi Ji and Balaji Ji. They are a fantastic South Indian couple who have been living in the USA for many decades, and their kindness and dedication to Indian classical music were evident in every detail of the event.
The concert, which was part of my USA tour 2025, took place in the morning, creating a refreshing and serene atmosphere in the home of Malathi Ji and Balaji Ji. The lovely ambience of their home, with its peaceful surroundings and thoughtful decor, added a unique charm to the event. It felt more like a gathering of friends and family than a formal performance, which made it all the more special.
Malathi Ji, my talented and devoted student, is not only an expert in both South Indian and North Indian classical music but also a great supporter of the arts. She and Balaji Ji arranged an extraordinary morning concert, inviting over 60 people into their home. The warmth and hospitality they showed to everyone made this event even more special.
I had the privilege of opening the concert with the soulful morning raga Miyan ki Todi, followed by Khambaj Dhunmala, Bollywood songs, and a beautiful South Indian bhajan 'Venkata chalanilayam'. The energy in the room was electrifying, with many of the guests being renowned local musicians who brought their own passion and expertise to the event. I could feel their appreciation in every note I played, which made the performance all the more meaningful.
A heartfelt thanks to my dear student, Sanjay Ji, who is not only an amazing musician but also a writer, for attending with his wife, Shuchi Ji. Your presence added so much to the occasion. I’m also deeply grateful to Vidya Ji, the president of ICMDS, for gracing the concert with her presence and support.
It was truly wonderful to see Prajwal and her mother, Ananya Didi, in the audience, listening with such warmth and attentiveness. To everyone who attended and appreciated the music, I’m so grateful. Your patience and kind words after the concert meant the world to me.
I would like to take a moment to thank Balaji Ji once again for capturing so many beautiful moments through his camera. His talent behind the lens added a special touch to the event. Balaji Ji, your skill is truly remarkable, and I’m grateful for all the stunning photos of both the audience and the performance.
I was accompanied by the most fantastic Shri Sandeep Hattangady on tabla. His accompaniment brought more life to my rendition.
Thank you, everyone, for being a part of this unforgettable morning. Your support, your love for music, and your presence were deeply inspiring. I value every one of you and will cherish these memories for years to come.
